THIS page is about how we do business, how we handle returns, payments and the information that you entrust us with when you choose to do business with MidTenn Hobbies. It’s long and seems complicated when you look through it, but we can help a little right here at the top since the goodwill and reputation of the company is our responsibility.

 

I’ve been a modeler since the late 1950’s. Owning a hobby shop has been something that I had wanted to do for a long time. Until a few years ago, I thought it would always be a storefront, but times change. I know what it’s like to go online and look for something or buy something from a website owned by somebody I don’t know yet. I also know what it’s like to wait for my order, or even wonder whether what I ordered was in stock. So, for people that are here for the first time, things work this way….

 

In our webstore, each item has either a quantity listed or is shown as being ‘Sold Out’. If a quantity is shown, it’s here on the shelf. Quantities on hand are updated immediately as someone goes through checkout.

 

Completed orders will ship within a day of payment, usually the same day, unless our shipments have already been picked up. We’re here all day, and our job is to fill orders and receive new stock. Normal shipping days are Monday through Friday. If we travel to a contest or have plans to be away, that information will be available in advance of your order on our Home page.

 

We don’t accept backorders, but our system is capable of notifying you when an item returns to stock.

 

When you receive something from us, if you’re not happy with it, or if it’s defective in some way, we're going to do all we can to make things right for you quickly. We want our customers to like doing business with us.

 

The information that you furnish to complete an order is secure, and we don’t sell or share your information with anybody.

 

It’s that simple.

 

As for the things below that fill up the rest of this page, please feel free to read. Most of you will never have to worry about what it says, but the lawyer says it has to be here. You’ll probably never have to refer to most of it, and we sure hope we don’t either. Modeling is supposed to be fun!

PAYMENTS

MidTenn Hobbies accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express and PayPal®, as online payment for orders. We also accept your personal check or a United States Postal Service Money Order as long as payment is mailed to us within 10 days from the date of the order. We DO NOT accept any other payment methods.

When using your credit card, please provide your credit card billing address if it is different from the shipping address, and a daytime phone number. If the billing address or security code does not match the information which is on file at the financial institution or if authorization is refused for any reason, we will attempt to contact you with the contact information you have provided. However, we reserve the right to cancel the order without notification. We cannot negotiate or solve credit card problems with the credit card provider. You must handle those issues directly, and then re-order once the problem is resolved if you choose to do so. Repeated attempts to authorize your credit card on the same order could result in an additional charge, therefore we will wait for your authorization. We do not assume any responsibility for bank fees incurred by using a Debit Card for your purchase and/or return credit.     Back to Top

PERSONAL CHECK POLICY

We attempt to bank-approve personal checks for fast shipment. This may not always be possible and we may hold your order until your payment clears. To make sure that your order ships as quickly as possible, please use a credit card, PayPal®, or a USPS Money Order.      Back to Top

 

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS

All payments must be in the form of US Currency. Payment for International Orders must be with either one of our accepted credit cards (see above) or with PayPal®. Even though we ship to many countries, we are unable to ship to some countries due to credit card security reasons or current U.S. law.

 

In most cases we offer Priority Mail International or UPS. UPS is recommended for quick delivery and includes tracking.

 

Please understand that we will not falsify invoices, customs forms or shipping labels under any circumstances. The customer is responsible for any applicable custom fees, duties or taxes. Any questions regarding those fees should be directed to your local authorities. Refused packages will affect return credit.      Back to Top

 

PRICE MATCHING

We make every effort to offer fair and competitive every-day pricing, based on our volume and overhead. While we DO NOT do price matching, if you spot a significantly lower price elsewhere for a product that we stock, feel free to inquire via email (see Contact Us page) before ordering, and we’ll check to make sure we haven’t made a mistake.     Back to Top

 

RETURNING MERCHANDISE

We will accept the return of any item you are not satisfied with within 30 days of the purchase date. These approved returns MUST be in new, unused condition and in the original packaging. Inner bags must still be sealed! For these returns, simply email for return authorization, and there will be NO restocking fee. We are unable to reimburse original or return shipping costs. Return credit for the price paid for the product will be issued after the item is received and inspected.

 

We do not accept returns via COD or any other collection method. COD packages will be refused. Packages billing MidTenn Hobbies without authorization will be refused unless other prior arrangements were made.      Back to Top

 

RETURNS DUE TO SHIPPING DAMAGE

If you receive a package from us with apparent shipping damage, please refuse the delivery. If the delivery has already been made and you find that the merchandise was damaged by the shipper, please call or email us right away with as much information as possible about the damage, and your order number!  Save all packing material and paperwork and do not throw anything away! If you attempt to return the merchandise yourself, you will jeopardize our chances of making a claim, and you may not receive credit for the return.      Back to Top

 

RETURNS DUE TO DEFECT

The instructions on how to handle this type of return will vary, and will be handled on an individual basis. If a part is missing or defective, do not return the entire kit. We will replace the missing or defective item, and in the case of a defective item, we may request the return of that item before a replacement is made. Your order number will be required. Defective merchandise may be returned to us as long as it is in new and unused condition. Unfortunately, an aftermarket item or a kit is not always perfect as far as fit or accuracy. This is not a defect. An item is considered defective if it is a ‘short-shot’ mold, broken inside the box, or has something missing.     Back to Top

 

RETURNS OF ‘USED’ MERCHANDISE

For purposes of this heading, ‘used’ might mean one of the following: inner bags have been opened, parts have been removed from sprues, frets or casting blocks, parts have been sanded, glued or painted, decals have been cut or applied, etc. Used merchandise is not accepted for return.      Back to Top

 

SHIPPING

MidTenn Hobbies uses either United Parcel Service or the United States Postal Service for shipping. We reserve the right to choose the carrier. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate requests for preferred shippers on a default or permanent basis. If you prefer a particular shipper, you may enter that information in the remarks section on the bottom of each order you place with us. It wouldn’t hurt to follow up with an email that includes your order number.

 

Once the order has shipped, please allow the carrier a reasonable time to deliver. MidTenn Hobbies and/or the carrier reserve the right to request a signature for proof of delivery. We cannot require a carrier to leave a package without signature or your acceptance, depending on the carrier’s experience. You may contact the carrier for instructions on available options.

 

Once the package is delivered, we are not responsible for theft or damage to the merchandise. If you accept a package that was purchased with a fraudulent credit card, you will be in possession of stolen merchandise. You may be responsible for any legal or collection action related to the shipment.

 

Shipping charges are non-refundable unless the item we ship is not the item you ordered.     Back to Top

 

PRIVACY POLICY

MidTenn Hobbies values the privacy of its online customers. We have established this section to explain how MidTenn Hobbies handles private information collected from its customers.

 

Our site uses a secure online ordering system. When an order is placed, we collect a customer’s contact information, like name, address, telephone number, e-mail address and credit card information, if applicable. This information from the order form is used to process and send orders, and, if requested, to send information about our company to our customers.

 

If you pay for your order with PayPal®, your PayPal® ID will be used in the processing of that transaction.

 

Our site uses "cookies" to keep track of your shopping cart contents.

 

Whenever sensitive personal or financial information is transmitted in payment processing, it is sent via a secured connection using secure sockets layer (SSL) technology. This is the most successfully used method of secure transmission of personal information over the Internet.

 

E-mail addresses are collected only for the purpose of processing orders and for providing informative updates that you might have requested. After joining our email list, you can opt out at any time by using the Contact Us page.

 

We DO NOT provide, share, sell or rent your e-mail address, phone number, address or any payment information to any other company or individual.
